A fragrant tale of Radha and Krishna’s Holi.
Story : Holi is often remembered as the triumph of good over evil, but nestled within its legends also lies a playful tale of love and equality.
Young Krishna, mischievous and full of spirit, often complained to his mother Yashoda about his dark complexion compared to the fair beauty of his beloved Radha. One spring morning, as the pair came to her with the same complaint, Yashoda picked up Gulal (powdered dried flowers) and, smearing it on their cheeks, said, ‘Now you are both the same.’ As the differences disappeared, they became one in colour, in laughter, in love - marking the beginning of Holi along with the joyous welcoming of spring.
Fragrance Journey :
Gullal opens with a gentle burst of grapefruit, pink pepper, and salty mineral accord, like dry colours tossed into the air. As those colours would eventually settle on damp skin, Gullal turns into the feeling of a damp forest floor, dotted with wildflowers. Green and vegetal fennel along with Orris act as an ode to Thandai - Holi’s signature celebratory drink.
Incense and Dry woods, although traditionally base notes, act here as guiding threads throughout the journey, providing earthy undertones and woody depth in the dry down. A subtle smokiness from Incense might become more noticeable in dry down, especially on warmer days. This is meant to recall the effects of Holika Dahan from the previous evening. Hours later, a soft musky trail from Ambergris still lingers as a skin scent.
Projection : Skin-scent with moderate projection.
