FAQ

Where is PEOSYM based?
Physically in Australia.
Culturally in India.
Emotionally - everywhere.

What kind of perfume house are you?
PEOSYM is a niche little Sydney-based perfume house creating artisanal fragrances inspired by lived experiences and cultural memory.

We are both an Indian and an Australian house, and proudly so. The brand is also woman-owned, POC-owned, and independent.
But at the core of it all, we are storytellers with a soft spot for philosophical wandering.

Why do you call yourself a niche house?
Good question.
The term niche exists largely because we need some way to distinguish fragrances that are not created for the mass market.

What we really mean is this: our fragrances are developed with the art of perfumery and storytelling in mind, rather than broad commercial appeal.
They tend to unfold gradually, like a quiet feeling developing over time.
And they leave space for the wearer to form their own interpretation of what the scent might mean.

Some fragrances may appeal to many people, of course. But the process behind them does not follow the usual path of focus groups or crowd testing.
That said, we do follow IFRA safety guidelines to ensure all products meet industry safety standards.

What does the name PEOSYM mean?
PEOSYM is a constructed word rather than a dictionary term.

It exists somewhere between poetry and personal philosophy. The name is also an acronym for what we believe art should be - Personal Expression Of Stories, Yearnings and Memories.

What inspires PEOSYM fragrances?
Everyday life.
Chaos, tenderness, humour, pain, resilience and the quiet details that most of us feel deeply but speak about less often.
The kind of moments that are quietly beautiful, yet rarely described as such, even though they shape us in lasting ways.

Who creates your fragrances?
Some very talented perfumers, mostly from the fragrance house Firmenich.
The perfumer and fragrance creation house are always credited alongside each fragrance description. Creating perfume is a collaborative art, and it deserves proper acknowledgment.

Will I get compliments?
Honestly, we don’t know.
Because of our fragrances? May be. We design them more for personal experience than projection.
Otherwise? Absolutely you should.
You are a fantastic person deserving of attention, appreciation, and a fair amount of kindness - especially from yourself.

I am allergic to nuts. Can I still wear Mithai?
As far as we know, no actual nuts are used in the creation of this fragrance.
However, if you are allergic to anything, it is always wise to patch test before applying any cosmetic product — not just our fragrances.

Are your products vegan-friendly?
Yes, they are.

Are PEOSYM perfumes natural?
Our fragrances use a combination of natural ingredients and safe synthetic materials, which is standard practice in modern perfumery.

Asking a perfumer to create complex compositions using only natural ingredients would significantly limit the creative palette and place greater strain on natural resources.

Additionally, natural essential oils can often be more volatile than well-studied synthetic molecules.
A thoughtful balance allows perfumers to achieve stability, safety, and creative expression while respecting environmental considerations.

Are PEOSYM fragrances sustainable?
We approach sustainability quietly and practically.
Our packaging uses biodegradable and recyclable materials wherever possible, avoids unnecessary layers, and minimizes plastic.
We prefer thoughtful design over performative sustainability claims.

Is Gullal masculine or feminine?
All our fragrances are unisex.
Scent, as far as we can tell, has very little interest in traditional gender categories. Our fragrances are for anyone who feels a connection with them.

Why does perfume smell different on different people?
Fragrance molecules interact with individual skin chemistry, temperature, and environment. Which means the final author of the scent is always the wearer.

Which of your fragrances are for summer?
Fragrances can feel lighter or heavier, warmer or fresher. But which fragrance to wear when is entirely up to you.

Sometimes it is a good idea to mix things up and experiment a little. Lost Wonderer, for example, is quite a spicy fragrance, yet it can bloom beautifully on warm, humid days, something you might never discover if you don’t try it.

That said, many people naturally gravitate toward lighter and fresher scents during summer. If you are looking for something along those lines, you might enjoy Nirmohee, Gullal, or Mithai.

How can I make my fragrance last longer?
